Canadian Burn Survivors Conference Steering Committee

The committee was formed in 2007 to ensure the continuation of the Canadian Burn Survivors Conference.  The committee will approach potential conference hosts, assist with conference planning, and maintain a mailing list of conference attendees.   Committee members are from across Canada and are associated with the burn community in a variety of ways.  If you would like more information about the steering committee or wish to contact a member please email to:

Barbara-Anne has over 20 years experience working in burn care as an Occupational Therapist.  Barbara-Anne has always worked in Winnipeg, and has been involved with the Mamingwey Burn Survivor Society there since it's inception.

Brady Tupper, Vancouver BC
At 21 years old Brady suffered first to third degree burns to her upper body, neck and face after having a seizure in the shower.  Brady spent 6 weeks in the hospital, has had 2 skin grafts and 2 skin releases, and wore Jobst garments for one year after discharge.  Brady volunteers with the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund as a spokesperson and as a style and make up resource for burn survivors.  In her day-to-day life, Brady is a marketing coordinator at a law firm

Riva Waldman, Toronto ON
Based in Toronto Riva Nussbaum, 53, is a diverse make-up artist who specializes in the teaching and application of corrective camouflage make up, eyelash extensions and eyebrow enhancement. Riva is the Toronto Representative for Sweet LeiLani Colour Cosmeceuticals.  Through the company's Face the Future Program 15% of the sales from the Skin Care Cover Foundation are donated to the BC Professional Firefighters' Burn Fund.  Empowering and enlightening  people to rediscover their beauty is Riva's gift to be shared.

Debbie Ward, Halifax NS
Debbie Ward burned at the age of 7 years old, 70 % body coverage, 3rd degree burns. Debbie spent 6 1/2 months in hospital at first, out for a month and back in for 5 1/2 months, at a time when induced comas' were not heard of.  Over the years she has had so many grafts and releases, it is impossible to count.  Debbie has 47 years experience as a burn survivor.  Debbie is Vice president of the Nova Scotia Burn Support Group as well as Secretary for the Canadian Burn Survivors Conference Steering Committee.
